CITROEN has toughened up the C3 with the launch of a ruggedly-styled 'active lifestyle' version.

Called the C3 XTR, it comes with black plastic protective bodywork, aluminum foglamp surrounds and modular roof bars which, Citroen claims, can carry items up to 60kg such as bikes or canoes.

The XTR will go on sale in the spring, with the choice of a 1.4 HDi or 1.4 16v Sensodrive model. Prices will be £11,795 on-the-road for the petrol and £12,595 on-the-road for the diesel.
