SMART will launch a sport utility vehicle in 2006 to coincide with the brand's launch in the North American market. Called the smart formore, it will be built in Brazil and smart expects to sell half the annual total of the new model in North America.

Andreas Renschler, president of smart, said: 'With the smart formore we will be applying the typical smart characteristics of innovation, functionality and joie de vivre to the SUV sector.'
