ALFA Romeo is confident of fleet interest in its new GT coupe (pictured) which went on sale this week, following a driving day for decision-makers in the fleet and contract hire industry.

Held at Leicestershire's Donington Park racetrack, the 1.9-litre JTD and 2.0-litre JTS were available for track use and on a stability and handling exercise in the paddock. Alfa Romeo managing director Glyn Owen said: 'Quality and reliability, along with service are a top priority.

'The Alfa 147 scored highly in most categories of the latest JD Power survey.'

Participants could also sample the revised Alfa 166 and other models in the range. Alfa Romeo sales director Jeff Culkin, said: 'Class-leading diesel engines allow us to compete in a growing market and are popular with those looking for economy benefits in both fuel efficiency terms and P11D taxation.'
