BMW has teamed up with Manheim Auctions and will be hosting online auctions in a bid to appeal to nationwide buyers.

The manufacturer will hold the interactive auctions on a monthly basis. BMW's dealer network will be sent details of the sale the week before, with buyers logging on to the Manheim website on the day of the sale to bid.

A BMW spokesman said: 'Manheim's online technology gives us another aspect to our remarketing programme and Cyber Auction is working very well for us.

'Our dealers are spread around the country and so Cyber Auction allows them to bid on cars without leaving their showrooms wherever they are in the UK. Prices achieved have been very good and we have received positive feedback from our dealer network on the online system.'

BMW has already completed two Cyber Auctions. More than 60 franchised BMW dealers logged on to bid on 100 cars. Conversion rates reached 97% and averaged 105% CAP clean.
