IMA hybrid passes 50,000 landmark

SALES of Honda's petrol-electric hybrid IMA system have passed the 50,000-mark after five years.

The manufacturer says the IMA now accounts for 3% of all Civic sales and is predicting further growth over the next five years.

David Strangeway, general manager at Honda, said: 'We are pleased to see more and more customers embracing IMA technology as a means of improving fuel economy, reducing emissions and helping the environment.'

Honda claims the Civic IMA accounts for 80% of sales in the UK hybrid market and three-quarters of all European Civic IMA sales.
