Sun brings out the soft-top bidders

A TASTE of summer in early April saw hundreds of buyers attend a special sale of convertibles held at British Car Auctions (BCA) London.

More than £1 million was made at the sale, which saw almost 100 convertibles offered, including marques such as Mercedes-Benz, Peugeot and Mazda.

Conversion rates reached 81% on the 77 models sold and Ashley Feldman, manager at BCA London, said: 'Themed events such as this create a great deal of interest with our buyers, as they know they will be presented with a superb selection of ready-to-retail vehicles. The massive turnout underlines that the specialist convertible market has a very strong following.'

Black Horse Motor Finance, part of Lloyds TSB Vehicle Finance, sold 61 vehicles on the day, with an 85% conversion achieveing more than 100% of CAP clean.

John McConnell, auction manager at Lloyds TSB Vehicle Remarketing, said: 'BCA London has staged a number of these specialist convertible sales, working with BCA to put together an exciting entry of vehicles.'

Models sold on the day included a 0303 Mercedes-Benz AMG SL55 (17,000 miles) for £49,000 and a 0151 Audi TT 1.8 (33,300 miles) for £17,050.
