The 136bhp 2.2 dCi engine, introduced last year, won recent plaudits for reliability.
Specification that includes alloy wheels, leather/Alcantara trim and front fog lamps on SE models is believed to have contributed to sales growth of 162% over last year, with even greater growth in the fleet market.
Nissan sold 3,272 Tinos to the end of May this year, compared with 2,011 in 2003, while 1,680 were sold to fleets, compared with 857 for the first five months of last year.
