OUR experts on the auction floor give you the lowdown on what’s selling and what’s sitting

What’s hot

Convertibles
They might be more year-round cars now than in the past but, given a spell of warmer weather, convertibles will find homes quicker than at other times of the year

Mitsubishi Shogun sport warrior 2.5TD
Well specced and less intimidating than a full-size Shogun the Shogun Sport Warrior is benefiting from the 4x4 appetite of the school run brigade

Mondeo and focus TDCi
Traders in the auction hall are paying a premium for the common-rail TDCi versions of these fleet stalwarts

    What’s not

    Audi A4
The latest version is beginning to lose its shine and must have leather or Multitronic transmission to attract interest. Cabriolets are doing well, though

    Toyota Avensis T3-S
The T3-S is not performing as well as the T3-X on the used market as buyers realise if they do without the standard sat-nav on the S they can have plusher trim and better kit on the X

    Fiat Stilo 5dr
Not doing as well as its 3dr sibling – partly a reflection on their Bravo/Brava predecessors, but also because the 3dr looks better than the frumpy 5dr
