The 2.5 litre Peugeot Boxer/Citroen Relay models are much preferred to the 1.9 powered examples.

Similarly the VW Transporter 2.5 is much in demand. Turbo-powered examples of the Dispatch and Expert generate a premium over models with the basic 1.9 engine – which is highly regarded in the marketplace in its own right. In the long-wheel-base, high-roof sector the Sprinter and Master lead the way, with similar demand generated for 120/125 PS New Transits.

While there is plenty of strong money about for the right vehicles, buyers are noticeably cherry-picking the best examples. There is a reluctance to ‘buy work’ and anything that might need a trip to the body shop before coming up to retail standard needs to be keenly priced.

With this in mind pre-sale preparation is getting increasingly important as vendors compete for the buyer’s attention.

Vendors should be mindful that supply and demand go hand in hand – when volumes are plentiful vehicles need to be priced sensibly in line with market sentiment.
