THE European Commission’s latest president Jose Manuel Barroso has unveiled the list of new EU commissioners – with Frenchman Jacques Barrot in charge of transport infrastructure.

His new commissioners include: Industry - Gunter Verheugen (Germany); Competition - Neelie Kroes (Netherlands); Internal Market - Charlie McCreevy (Ireland); Trade - Peter Mandelson (UK); Enlargement – Olli Rehn (Finland); Regional Policy – Danuta hubner (Poland); Energy Laszlo Kovacs (Hungary); Environment – Stavros Dimas (Greece); Health and Consumer Markos Kyprianou (Cyprus); Taxation and Customs – Ingrida Udre (Latvia).

Transport is currently headed by Loyola de Palacio and the new Commission takes effect from November.
