    Ford Mondeo ST TDCi
FORD'S first ST diesel model uses a new version of the Mondeo TDCi engine with 155bhp and 295lb-ft. The torque figure is unrivalled in four-cylinder diesel production cars and should be a ball of fire, while the Mondeo's driver appeal is increased thanks to the tweaks made to make it worthy of the ST badge. We expect it to be a tempting car for user-choosers looking for a well-priced, sporty upper-medium diesel.

    Volvo S60 facelift
ALTHOUGH it might not look very different, the 2005 model S60 (and V70 and XC70) hides a raft of improvements and some important new safety technology. Volvo's BLIS (blindspot information system) will make its debut as an option priced at about £500 as a useful third eye constantly looking behind and alerting the driver if another vehicle is approaching in the outside lane when overtaking.
