INTEGRATED communications specialist Central Telecom is using a new hi-tech system to track its employees on the road.

Using web-based vehicle tracking, the firm will be able to monitor its nationwide team of engineers in 60 vehicles.

Simon Taylor, IT manager at Central Telecom, said: ‘We required a solution that could supply our helpdesk teams with information on the real-time locations of all our field service engineers. They need the ability to trace the route an engineer takes to a customer’s site and they wanted to be informed of any major road works in progress or delays due to increasing traffic volumes.’

Cybit has been brought in to provide the web-based vehicle tracking system, using its Fleetstar-Online service.
