Ford Mondeo ST TDCi
FORD’S first ST diesel model uses a new version of the Mondeo TDCi engine with 155bhp and 295lb-ft. The torque figure is unrivalled in four-cylinder diesel production cars and should be a ball of fire, while the Mondeo’s driver appeal is increased thanks to the tweaks made to make it worthy of the ST badge. We expect it to be a tempting car for user-choosers looking for a well-priced, sporty upper-medium diesel.
Peugeot 407 SW
THE second body-style in the 407 range, the SW seems to straddle the line between hatchback and estate. It isn’t a proper load-lugger like the Citroen C5, Ford Mondeo or Vauxhall Vectra, but has stand-out styling and the rear portion cuts a dash that echoes the all the best sporty estates. The forthcoming 2.7 HDi V6 should be a gem for transporting a family in swift, smooth and refined style.
