Van sales dip but yearly record still holds good

A total of 18,199 vans were registered, including light commercial vehicles, down 5.6% at 14,249.

Year-to-date van sales are up 6% at 241,657, while LCVs are up 7.2% at 203,195. Looking at sales over a rolling 12-month period, they have now reached record levels, at 377,345.

In the LCV sector during August, the sub-1.8 tonne sector fell 17.5% to 3,581, while 1.8-3.5 tonne sales were down just 0.7% at 10,439. 4x4 utilities were down 6.5% at 229. For the year to date, sub 1.8-tonne van sales were down 2.1% at 53,709, while 1.8-3.5 tonne sales were up 11.5% at 144,615. Utility sales were down 0.8% at 4,871.
