THOUSANDS of fleet drivers run the risk of being involved in accidents because of something as simple as washer fluid.

Up to 70% of motorists admit to driving with an empty windscreen washer bottle, even though it could lead to them driving blind if they need to clear their windscreens suddenly. Men are worse offenders than women, with 73% admitting their windscreen visibility had been severely impaired as a result, compared to 54% of women.

Those least likely to run out were drivers over 55, with those aged 26 – 35 the worst offenders.
