ROYAL Mail has ordered 250 new vans from LDV.

After a six-month evaluation of the new Maxus van, the postal organisation will take delivery of 150 3.2-tonne LWB extra high roof models, 50 3.2-tonne LWB extra high roof seven-seater vehicles and 50 2.8- tonne SWB low roof six-seaters.

LDV’s Special Vehicle Operations department (SVO) has worked with Royal Mail to develop the vehicles to meet its needs.

Nigel Peat, from Royal Mail Vehicle Services, said: ‘This represents the first batch of Maxus orders which mark the beginning of a programme to replace the Convoy and Pilot models in our existing fleet.

‘LDV built a series of vehicles to allow us to evaluate its capabilities.’
