THE European Commission has launched a guide describing the 110 different models of driving licences in circulation around the European Union (EU), helping pan-European fleets, transport businesses and regulators identify legitimate documents.

The Commission said the manual would help managers identify the exact rights commanded by each licence. The EU is trying to harmonise EU licence formats, but this will take years. Meanwhile, all officially-approved EU driving licences are mutually recognised in all member states.
