BRITAIN’S longest contraflow, complete with 8,000 cones, speed cameras and no hard shoulder, has just opened on the M5.

A nine-mile stretch of the motorway, between junctions 19 and 20 near Bristol, is officially the longest and most complicated contraflow system in the UK and will continue for eight months.

The £28 million contraflow has been installed so two new crawler lanes can be built near Gordano and Clevedon. The new lanes are designed to reduce congestion.
