New HSE chief

THE Health and Safety Executive has announced the appointment of Geoffrey Podger as its new chief executive.

Previously at the European Food Safety Authority, he has also spent time at the Food Standards Agency, the Department of Health and the then Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. His role will be to promote sensible health and safety policies in the workplace, including those for working on the roads.
