FLEETS are being warned against ‘rip-off’ charges for writing risk policies.
Independent fleet risk company Essential Risk Consultancy says it is aware of
situations where fleets have been charged expensive fees for policies.
Fleet services director Stuart Gunn said: ‘We know of several cases where companies that have recently expanded into the risk management market, as a route to selling their other training services, have charged hefty fees simply for providing fleets with written risk policies.
‘This practice amounts to a rip-off, because written risk policies are only one part of the solution, and a provider can cover the needs of 99% of fleets from a handful of ready-made templates that it only needs to tailor slightly to suit each individual customer.’
