AN industry magazine which promotes careers in the motor industry is gearing up to launch its second edition in May.

The magazine, called Career Driven, is a lifestyle and career publication, offering advice and job information on the motoring industry.

Aimed at all sectors in the industry, including fleet and leasing, the magazine – launched in association with The Independent newspaper – provides case studies, careers advice and articles on specific professions within motoring.

A spokesman for Automotive Skills, the sector skills council for the retail motor industry, which launched the magazine, said: ‘We want to dispel the myth that working in the motor industry means working under a car bonnet.

‘Several IT graduates enter the industry at management level, such as in the fleet industry.

‘The magazine covers the retail motor industry and everything that the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA) represents, which includes the fleet and leasing sectors.’

The publication’s main aim is to promote careers in the industry and Automotive Skills hopes that Career Driven will attract people to consider working in the industry, as well as offering an insight into new careers.

Patricia Richards, chief executive of Automotive Skills, said: ‘This magazine is a first for the motor sector and we are delighted to have strong support from The Independent and the industry.

‘We believe this represents a unique opportunity to communicate directly with people and encourage them to seek a challenging career from the wide breadth of opportunities within our sector.’

  • Current job opportunities in the fleet industry can also be found in the Recruitment section of FNN.
