He takes over as fleet and remarketing director from David McGonigle who will lead a special project for Mazda Motors Europe.

Pumfrey, who joined Mazda in February 2002, was previously responsible for customer services, warranty, parts and accessories and service.

Pumfrey said: ‘Fleet is a very important part of our business, accounting for 16,000 sales in 2005. Mazda’s sales are predominantly retail and we work very hard to ensure that our residual values remain class leading.

‘The introduction of the Mazda5 later this year will allow us to join more choice lists, adding to the popularity of Mazda6 and Mazda3 among company car rivers.

‘My main role is to con-tinue Mazda’s fleet business at about 35% of total business, ensure Mazda dealers continues profitable fleet sales and residual values are protected.’
