Fleet News Awards 2005: the winners and the pictures

THE finest in the industry were recognised at the Fleet Oscars - the 2005 Fleet News Awards.

More than 1,300 people from the fleet industry gathered at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London, welcomed by Fleet News' editor John Maslen. The events was hosted by newsreader Huw Edwards. 32 awards were handed out.

The fleet decision-makers were the stars of the show.

Dave Wallington, group safety adviser at BT took the Fleet Risk Management Award, sponsored by Kwik-Fit Fleet, Jack Pryde, supplier relationship manager at Dunfermline Building Society took Fleet Manager of the Year sub-100 vehicles, sponsored by Northgate, Sally Weeks, of Maxxium UK, was named Fleet Manager of the Year 101-400 vehicles, sponsored by BMW Corporate Sales and Dermot Coughlan, transport manager - Kelly Communications, took the BT Fleet-sponsored Fleet Manager of the Year 401-plus Vehicles Award.

Diane Miller was named for the second year running as Pan-European Fleet Manager of the Year, an award presented in association with Fleet News Europe and sponsored by Volkswagen UK.

The National Association of Police Fleet Managers took the Platinum Award for services to the fleet industry.

Also taking an award for the second year in a row was HM Customs & Excise, named UK Fleet of the Year, sponsored by Avis, with the award collected by John Webb, head of strategic development - Transport.

Among other big winners on the night were Audi, which took four awards.
