HUMBERSIDE Police force is strengthening its relationship with Proton and has ordered 20 new liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) Gen-2 GSXs.

The blue-light fleet has been using Protons for several years and the new models will already be converted to LPG before they arrive on the fleet.

Alan Hocking, fleet and supplies manager at Humberside Police, said: ‘Having had excellent results from our current Protons, it was a natural progression to evaluate the Gen-2. We have an operational area in which the Gen-2 will be a very suitable vehicle.’

Humberside Police was awarded the Fleet News Environmental Star Award, in association with BP, last May after making annual savings of £200,000 by operating LPG vehicles.
