Transport minister to step down

TRANSPORT Minister David Jamieson has announced he will be stepping down from the Government at the next General Election.

Jamieson has been the MP for Plymouth Devonport since 1992. He said: ‘I have had a wonderful time over the past 13 years. But I feel that the time has now come for a change and for a fresh Labour face to represent Devonport and to take us forward.’

Jamieson has been Transport Minister for the past three years.
