TOYOTA has announced plans to build a car production plant in Russia. It will initially have an annual production capacity of about 50,000 units. At the start of production, the plant will produce the Camry, a mainstream seller in Russia, at a rate of about 20,000 units a year. Toyota has not yet decided which other models will be built at the site, located in St Petersburg's Shushary district. The manufacturer used last week's Barcelona motor show to unveil its sixth-generation Hilux pick-up. Full-year European sales are expected to reach 25,000 units and it goes on sale from October.
