THE latest appointments in the fleet industry. VAUXHALL Motors has appointed a new manager to head up its aftersales marketing programme responsible for service, trade, accident repair and accessory marketing for the car and van ranges.
John Deed, who has been at Vauxhall since 1983, takes on the role. He was previously business development manager for car and van sales and aftersales in East Anglia.
He has also worked as direct marketing manager and advertising manger for cars and vans at Vauxhall. APPLEYARD Vehicle Contracts has appointed Mel Goodliffe as its new sales and marketing director.
Goodliffe has worked in the fleet industry for the past 16 years in several senior management roles.
In his new position, he will be responsible for helping grow the company through acquisitions, portfolio purchases, developing the existing client base and generating new business. IAM Fleet, the commercial training division of the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM), has appointed Malcolm Thorne as national business manager south.
He brings more than 30 years’ experience and will be responsible for managing clients and developing new business in southern England.
Before joining IAM Fleet, he was southern divisional sales manager at Highway Vehicle Management. GEOFF Fisher has been appointed the new developer for fleet and leasing products at fleet software and occupational road safety group Jaama.
Fisher brings several years’ experience, including the last 14 years at cfc solutions as senior developer and designer.
Fisher said: ‘I have gained a lot of experience of the fleet software industry from working at cfc but am looking forward to the challenge of developing brand new products with brand new technology that is years ahead of anything currently in the marketplace.’ KELLY Robertson has joined the driver and fleet solutions department at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).
She takes the role of sales and training manager and will be responsible for promoting the importance of managing occupational road risk to small and medium-sized businesses.
She joined RoSPA three years ago and has several years experience in driver and fleet training sales. She said: ‘Many organisations with smaller fleets still need help in understanding that implementing policies to manage occupational road risk need not be a burden.’ COMMERCIAL vehicle specialist Ryder has appointed Bruce Howard as UK sales director.
Howard will be responsible for the sales and development of Ryder’s UK business including leasing, commercial vehicle rental, maintenance and fleet management services.
He will head a UK sales force and has been at Ryder since 1987, when he joined after graduating.
He worked as transport consultant and area consultant at Ryder before leaving in 1996 to join Hertz UK and then Sixt Kenning. He re-joined Ryder in 2003 as director of fleet management solutions. GUY Frobisher has joined Continental Tyres as marketing director for the passenger division.
Since joining Continental in 1996, Frobisher has spent five years in several roles in product management and two years as channel business manager responsible for the business development of key customers.
For the past three years, he has worked as marketing manager responsible for strategy on the Continental, Uniroyal and Semperit brands. SHEILA Smith has joined Lex Vehicle Leasing in a new role as telematics product manager. She joins from Thales Telematics, where she worked in the national corporate sales department generating new business and account managing existing clients across market sectors.
In the new role, she will help Lex and its clients use telematics to manage their fleets more effectively.
