The Harrogate-based company which, until now has largely focused on leasing company cars, has introduced a new LCV quote system, updated monthly, which is being used by itself and its nationwide network of 150 brokers.

LCV sales reached an all-time high last year of 329,599 units – up 8.5% on 2003’s 303,755 – the previous record figure. And, with order books strong and 2005 first quarter sales continuing to soar – up 2.2% year-on-year at 85,877 registrations – the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders says 2005 will be ‘another very good year’.

Black-i managing director Nick Brown said: ‘We have never actively pursued van fleet business in the past, although we have provided some commercial vehicles to customers on request, particularly those who already lease company cars from us.

‘However, with the LCV market at record levels and demand from commercial vehicle operators forecast to continue unchecked, now is a good time for Black-i to formally break into the segment.’
