SURVEYS and in-depth analysis into the fleet market by remarketing experts are helping fleets create more effective choice lists and defleeting policies.

Analysis of hundreds of thousands of vehicles is being provided by the two industry leaders in the remarketing sector to help businesses make key strategic choices.

BCA Europe and Manheim Auctions have created regular reports in a bid to help the industry track trends and spot potential issues when acquiring or selling vehicles.

Manheim Auctions has examined figures from 90,000 vehicles in a regular report. One finding is that the average mileages on compact executive and executive segments continue to rise and now average 18,000 and 16,000 miles a year respectively. This is an indication, the report says, ‘of just how mobile senior management are becoming’.

Other findings in the report include large family cars continuing to cover just under 20,000 miles a year. It shows they are also bottom of the depreciation table, retaining 29% of original cost new at an average age of 42 months and 67,000 miles.

BCA Europe is keeping the industry informed with a series of reports, including newly-launched BCA Pulse. The report looks at three distinct sectors – nearly new, fleet/lease and part exchange. It provides pricing trends, CAP performance and mileage and age data.

It also contains an analysis of general economic and specific motor industry trends and information from industry bodies and price guides. It recently reported RVs were generally rising.
