A REFRIGERATION equipment company has warmly embraced the use of satellite tracking systems by fitting them to its fleet of vans.

Carter Refrigeration & Retail Services looks after refrigeration equipment for supermarket giants such as Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Somerfield.

The company is using the Masternaut system to keep a live track of its 250 mobile engineers.

The web-based service can be accessed from anywhere, making it suitable for use by managers at Carter’s regional offices located nationwide.

Customers can be informed of an engineer’s whereabouts and expected arrival times, and Masternaut includes e-mail reports for the confirmation of engineer working hours.

Phil Hammond, general manager (retail maintenance) of Carter Refrigeration & Retail Services, said: ‘Masternaut provides a significant boost to our customer services, allowing us to respond to calls more efficiently and quickly.

‘It also provides complete verification on service performance by recording arrival and departure times automatically.’

Hammond added: ‘That level of control and information is allowing us to make significant improvements all around.’
