NEW laws that crack down on errant motorists are set to be introduced following news that the Road Safety bill has been granted Royal Assent.

The bill is now an Act of Parliament and will soon become law, with new offences for drivers causing death by careless driving or causing death by driving while unlicensed, disqualified or insured.

It will also crack down on motorists who use an unroadworthy vehicle and revise penalties for drivers speeding or using a hand-held mobile phone while driving.
