Award-winner Ayling retires

A DOUBLE Fleet News award- winner responsible for creating a major government departmental fleet has retired from the industry.

Stan Ayling OBE set up the then Inland Revenue (IR) fleet in 1998 and was awarded the OBE in 2000 for his work on ‘groundbreaking fleet contracts across government’.

He was Fleet News Fleet Manager of the Year (Large Fleets) in 1996 and 1998.

Originally head of travel and transport for Inland Revenue, he became commercial operations director for IR and then HM Revenue & Customs, but still retained an involvement in fleet up until his retirement.
