Tyre safety body launch

A NEW industry body has been launched with the aim of promoting tyre safety awareness with fleets.

Called Tyresafe, the body has been developed by the Tyre Industry Council (TIC), plans to become a national reference point for all issues involving tyre safety and will be the first point of contact for tyre safety-related enquires.

The organisation will continue the work developed by the TIC over the past 18 years but will become more campaign-focused.

A spokesman for the group said: ‘Tyresafe will address the challenges facing the tyre industry and in particular, corporate responsibility and duty-of-care legislation relating to tyres and their use.’

Early next year the group is planning to announce a number of initiatives, including the launch of a website and plans for a national tyre awareness week.
