AVIS has warned that rental costs are likely to rise this year, in line with predictions from many other rental suppliers, but has pledged to work with fleet managers to minimise the impact on budgets.

The rental giant has confirmed it is spending more time working with customers to manage the cost of the rental process rather than just looking at the price of the car.

Stuart Gent, Avis Rent a Car’s managing director, said: ‘Companies hiring cars should expect to pay higher daily rates as the costs of providing daily rental to the corporate sector are rising in a number of areas.

‘This doesn’t mean companies necessarily have to pay more – if buyers are willing to work with us on how they manage the use of rentals, then we can often find ways to mitigate rises.’
