Avis restructure leads to job cuts

CAR rental company Avis Europe is cutting 200 jobs as part of a major restructuring of its business.

The company is transferring 180 jobs from its closing Manchester call centre to its centre in Barcelona and other roles will be transferred to its shared service centre in Budapest.

Avis Europe chief executive Martin Hennessy said: ‘We are working closely with our staff to achieve these essential changes. This has been a difficult decision, but necessary to ensure that we deliver on the goals set out in our recovery strategy.’
