A RAIL maintenance group for the London Underground has announced plans to replace its 160-strong fleet of commercial vehicles with Vauxhall vans.

Westinghouse Rail Systems, a division of the Invensys group has already taken delivery of 12 Vivaro Doublecabs for site engineers.

Doug Johnston, fleet manager at Westinghouse Rail Systems, said: ‘We expect to replace all our current vehicles with Vauxhalls over the next few years. No one can beat them for fleet support both technically and financially.’

The group will outright purchase the vehicles on a four- to five-year cycle or 100,000 to 120,000 miles.
