How long have you been a fleet manager and what did you do before that?
I have been a fleet manager for four years. I was a treasury manager for three years and prior to that an assistant financial controller for the same group – Caudwell Holdings.
What is the most challenging part of your job?
Risk management for a fleet of 1,400 drivers and 300 cash allowance drivers. The challenge starts with identification of the risk exposures, then formalising policies to minimise them, to the ongoing monitoring of compliance against policy.
What is your greatest success to date in fleet?
Installing the new Key2 fleet system from Jaama. This has transformed the information management within the business.
What would you say to anybody considering joining the fleet industry?
It is a dynamic, challenging industry with many varied and interesting aspects. Car fleets are the modern workhorse of industry, but they also hold the unenviable position of being a benefit to the driver. Juggling the two aspects to keep all stakeholders satisfied is an interesting challenge.
