MINI will have a special BARge hospitality area at this year’s British International Motor Show, open exclusively for MINI owners.

The 45 tonne BARge was towed into place last week in preparation for the opening of the motor show next week. It features three sundecks and four themed rooms, including three bars and a games den. MINI UK will also be displaying the MINI Concept, Mini GP 0001 and the full model line-up on its stand. Mini owners can gain access to the BARge by showing their key fob.

Andy Hearn, MINI UK general manager, said: "MINI is known for setting precedents at the motor show such as the stunt-driving antics at Birmingham in 2002 and 2004. We really wanted to push the boat out this year and make use of the natural setting while giving Mini owners some extra TLC."

MINI UK sent out information packs out to 20,000 Mini owners which live near the ExCeL centre at London’s docklands. An email was also sent out to all owners across the country inviting them to visit the Mini BARge.

  • The British International Motor Show runs from July 20-30 at ExCeL London.
