JOHN Bradley, awarded an MBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List, has cited the recognition gained from winning a Fleet News Award as a major factor.

As fleet manager at Hampshire Constabulary, Bradley leads a department with a £6.3 million annual budget and nearly 1,000 vehicles, including cars and light commercial vehicles.

Bradley said: ‘I am absolutely delighted to have received the MBE. It goes without saying that this not only reflects well on the Hampshire Constabulary, the police officers and police staff and most importantly those working within its transport department, but also the National Association of Police Fleet Managers and the industry itself.

‘I feel that my previous awards, including last year’s Fleet News Fleet Manager of the Year, played an important part in highlighting nationally the high standards of our in-house fleet management and maintenance repair facilities which operate within the two counties of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.’

  • Graham Fryer, chairman of the Driving Instructors’ Association and road safety campaigner Safety House, was also awarded an MBE, for his contribution towards road safety.
