Careers: how are you settling?

MANAGING director of Autorola Global Remarketing, Michael Crocker

What has been your highlight since you took the role of managing director?
Influencing the business with my leadership skills and seeing morale in the office grow immediately while also gaining everyone’s confidence from day one.

You must have seen some interesting things in your time.
When I worked as a car salesman, one of my colleagues was so small that he had to have a pair of shoes tied on to bricks so that he could reach the lock at the top of the showroom door when it was his turn to work late.

Did you always envisage a career in the motor industry?
Not at first – I wanted to join the police force, but I found out that I was colour-blind. I was always interested in cars and used to visit the Ford dealer on my way home from school. The salesman said that I would eventually end up working in the industry and I am still friends with him to this day.

Have you ever had a bad day at work?
Yes, our offices were recently burgled twice in one week.
