Careers: how are you settling in?

Andy Turner, fleet manager, Swift Prestige Hire, Helphire Group

Busy – fleet management is constant and vigilance is required at all times. You have to hit the ground running.

  • How did you get into the automotive business?

I was a motor vehicle apprentice with day release to college for four years.

After repairing cars, I spent six years at an Austin Rover dealership starting in service reception before moving to aftersales manager. I started in fleet management in 1990.

Managing the purchase and rotation of an ever-growing fleet.

  • How will your role change over the next few years?
