Although a production version of the new Lexus supercar was on display at the Tokyo Motor Show, the development mule has again been seen outside parent company Toyota’s German R&D centre.

The LF-A is scheduled to go on sale in the next couple of years, powered by a 5.0-litre V10 engine. Also expect a hybrid petrol-electric version.

The LF-A concept has been around for a couple of years.

One reason it hasn’t made it to production yet is that Toyota has yet to deliver in Formula One – supposedly the LF-A would have been launched once Toyota was winning grands prix.
