Dial-a-query oil scheme

CASTROL has launched a service aiming to clear up confusion over which grade of oil to buy.

The combination of longer service intervals and the proliferation of specialist and synthetic oils designed for specific engine types has meant many drivers are unsure which will best suit their car.

By texting the word Oil to 83080 and the make, model and engine type of their vehicle drivers will receive a recommendation of the best oil to use. An image of the pack will also be sent to make selection easier.

Texts are charged at the standard network rate and drivers must have a WAP-enabled phone. Recommendations will only be for Castrol products.

Rob Stroud, Castrol marketing manager for passenger car markets, said: ‘The recommendation comes back straight away so it can be used at point of purchase.’
