Entries are now open for the second annual Energy Saving Trust Fleet Hero Awards.

The Energy Saving Trust-backed awards, supported by the Department for Transport, are held in partnership with The Observer and Fleet News.

Each award demonstrates how organisations in private and public sectors are able to reduce their CO2 emissions and showcases those who are making outstanding or pioneering achievements in green fleet management.

Eight awards are up for grabs this year, covering fleets of cars and vans under 3.5 tonnes.

The award categories are:

Large Fleet (250+ vehicles)

Medium Fleet (50 - 249 vehicles)

Small Fleet (25 - 49 vehicles)

Grey Fleet Champion - recognising steps in managing mileage and reducing emissions from private cars used for business

Business Mileage Champion - recognising efforts to address total business mileage and reduce CO2

Innovation / New Technology - recognising the application of new technology to achieve carbon reduction

Leadership Award – recognising organisations where senior management or the board have led by example, or where organisations have influenced others through their example

Industry Supplier Award - recognising the contribution of fleet industry suppliers to progressing sustainability in business travel.

The closing date is June 30, leaving plenty of time to enter, and the awards ceremony will be held in London in November.

Winners will be profiled in depth in The Observer and Fleet News that month.
