Based in Turin, Manheim Italia has already opened for business and offers online remarketing, a rental buy-back fleet management consultancy service and some retail remarketing services to manufacturers, rental and leasing companies.
The business is being based on Manheim’s Spanish model and follows its expansion in Portugal earlier in 2007, when Manheim purchased three physical auctions in Lisbon and Porto which sell over 20,000 vehicles annually.
Jonathan Holland, Manheim’s managing director – Continental Europe, said: “Our approach to Europe is all about flexibility as one remarketing approach doesn’t fit all markets. For instance, the internet has certainly transformed the growth of cross-border used-car sales, while some markets are still better served by a combination of physical and online channels.
“The Italian expansion gives us access to a market that Manheim hasn’t been working in before and we are confident our extensive range of remarketing products and services will open up a significant range of business opportunities in this country.”
