The ultimate green car has just been launched by Lexus – the only problem is that it costs from £81,400.

The LS600h blends a 5.0-litre V8 petrol engine with an electric motor and four-wheel drive.

Lexus claims it will return 30.4mpg and emit 219g/km of CO2, and as it’s a hybrid will be exempt from the London congestion charge.

A long-wheelbase model will also be offered at £83,645, while for the ultimate in luxury a version with first-class aircraft cabin-style reclining seats is offered at £88,000.
