The number of people accessing the Acas website for advice and guidance on workplace issues, is at an all-time high.

The site had 2.7 million visitors last year, with the two most frequently viewed pages were the A-Z of work and rights at work.

Acas also took almost a million phone calls from employers and employees with the top three issues being discipline and dismissal, redundancies and contractual concerns.

Rita Donaghy, chair at Acas, said: “This has been a busy year for Acas.

“The introduction of the new age discrimination legislation was just one highlight where we delivered our services to help employers and employees with the world of work.

“Our message is: Prevention is better than cure.”

However, despite the high number of enquiries, there has been a decrease in the number of claims to employment tribunals with 105,177 in 2006/2007, compared to 109,712 in 2005/2006.
