Fiat has announced the UK line-up of its stylish and critically acclaimed 500, which goes on sale on January 21.

There will be nine versions available at launch, in three trim levels – Pop, Lounge and Sport. Standard equipment on all models includes remote central locking, seven airbags, electric front windows and an MP3-compatible CD player.

ESP is standard on the most powerful petrol model and a £200 option on the others. Other options include automatic climate control, a sunroof, parking sensors and a stereo with Blue&Me phone and MP3 player connectivity.

There are also more than 100 bespoke accessories making up over 500,000 possible trim, colour and option combination.

Three engines are available – a 75bhp MultiJet turbodiesel and two petrol engines with either 69bhp or 100bhp.

Both petrol engines return more than 40mpg and the diesel unit will make 67.3mpg, and emissions of just 111g/km.

The diesel and smaller 1.2-litre petrol units are mated to five speed gearboxes, while the larger 1.4-litre petrol engine has six speeds.

A clutchless, five-speed, sequential manual ‘box with a full automatic mode is offered as an option on all petrol models.

Prices will range from £7,900 to £10,700.
