How was your first week?
A whirlwind first week – I was made very welcome by the Avis directors, staff and my new sales team.

How does your new role differ from that in your previous job?
My last two roles were in retail banking running more than 100 branches and leading 1,000 people. At Avis, I have a much smaller team.

What has been your biggest challenge in the role so far?
Getting up to speed with the jargon and technicalities of a new industry.

What do you think has been your biggest achievement?
I’d like to think I’ve re-energised the sales team and that they feel both challenged and excited about our growth plans.

What are you working on at the moment?
I’m currently shaping 2009 plans and developing some new products and services for our business customers.

What is your favourite restaurant?
A destination favourite is Rick Stein’s seafood restaurant – I’ve been to his cookery school and love his food!
