Merseyside police has become the first force in the country to achieve the Carbon Trust Standard, an environmental certificate recognising the force’s action by reducing its carbon footprint.

The force has taken several steps including reducing the number of its vehicles from more than 1,200 to 850, saving 2,400 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
